Planning Your Workday:
Being in an office is like surfing. What!?! You say. Ok, you’re right, being in an office isn’t that much fun. But you can take some of the concepts of surfing and apply them to your workday.
In movies and on the beach, you may have seen surfers on the shore and looking out at the water and waves, scanning the horizon. Before even paddling out, a surfer has to assess the conditions. What kind of waves are out there? Where’s the break? Is there a rip tide? Is there a lull?
Start Your Day Right
At the start of your day, are you taking the time to assess your conditions? Where are key times in the day where you can work on big projects? What is it that you could lose focus or be interrupted by? (Hello, Facebook users) What commitments have I made that I need to follow up on?
Be Prepared
Ride the wave of productivity, focus and organization in your workday. Be prepared and look out for what’s coming at you. And if not you’re not prepared, do something- scan your calendar, things to do, projects lists to stay focused. Enjoy the waves.
