There are many aspects of goal setting that get overlooked. The last blog was dedicated to creating milestones. Here are some other areas in goal setting that get ignored. We are in the last month of the first quarter. Are you on track to meeting your Q1 goals? Do you have goals for 2024?
Review
Have you ever heard someone say they set goals at the beginning of the year and then forgot about them? This is partly due to not setting milestones but it also has to do with not reviewing goals regularly. Reviewing goals, either monthly or quarterly helps you to see how far you’ve come or where you need to go. Reviewing goals can be very motivating and helps keep you on track.
Reflect
Reflection is another aspect of goal setting that gets bypassed. Reflecting on what needs to happen next or reflecting on what is the next best course of action can help you reach your goals. You can reflect on any changes that might have occurred. Life is going to throw you a curve ball. Reflecting on how you handled life events will help you in the future with other challenges.
Rest
Lastly, Rest. Many of us go non-stop. Along with reflection, we need to stop and rest. What rejuvenates you? Is it music, nature, or family? Do that. If you need to take a nap, get extra sleep, take time to do that. You will burn out from work or become ill because your body is telling you to rest. (If you do get sick here’s a blog on ways to stay productive)
