Do you set New Year’s resolutions?
Is Goal Setting the first thing you do in the New Year?
Did you reach your goals last year?
Here are the most common mistakes made by people who set goals without the watchful eye of a Productivity Coach.
Ideas-You will write down ideas you have. Not dreams, not tasks—ideas. It’s just a thought. It’s not something you can take action on. It’s not measurable. It often clutters up your actual goals. The string of words makes it impossible to decipher or achieve. With the confusion you abandon the goals you set at the start of the New Year.
Actions-Another common mistake is writing down an action. Actions are not goals. The task is what helps you achieve the goal. Clutter up your goals with actions and it becomes overwhelming. There is so much to do. When the overwhelm hits, that is when you put your goals aside and loose focus.
Accountability-You don’t look for the support you need to achieve your goal. Keeping to yourself, you falter on their resolution you created. Allowing just one person to guide and direct you can make all the difference.
Setbacks-You don’t plan for setbacks. Thinking through what could go wrong along with the resources and course correction can help in achieving the goal. Know what obstacles might get in the way.
